About Tailtype

Tailtype is a small, independent project that makes playful, well-researched personality quizzes for pet people. We believe the better you understand your pet, the happier your life together will be, and that learning about it should be fun.

How the quizzes work

Our cat and dog quizzes measure four everyday dimensions: Energy, Social, Curiosity, and Attitude. They are inspired by published research on animal personality, which we explain in our guides. Each answer nudges your pet toward one side of a dimension, and the combination gives one of 16 types.

The quizzes are for fun and general information only. They are not a behavioral, medical, or veterinary assessment. If you’re worried about your pet’s behavior or health, please talk to your vet or a qualified behaviorist.

Free and paid

Every quiz and result is free. If you want to go deeper, the full personality report costs $3.99 and includes detailed scores, a play plan, training tips, compatibility with every pet-parent type, and a printable poster.

Who we are

Tailtype is run by Qianjun Zhao, an independent creator based in China. All illustrations on this site were made for Tailtype.
